What is an Iron Curtain?
An Iron Curtain is a two-tank, whole-house filter designed to treat water high in iron, manganese and hydrogen sulfide. These minerals account for most of the "stink and stain" in rural applications.

How Does an Iron Curtain Work?
The manufacturer explains their operation as follows: mineral rich water is forced through an aeration tank (a tank containing oxygen) which converts the dissolved minerals such as iron, manganese and sulfur into physical particles. These tiny particles circulate in the system long enough to grow to a size where they are trapped in the filter tank and then backwashed down the drain. This way the highest level of dissolved minerals can be easily removed from your water.

This process, although simplified, is what takes place inside an Iron Curtain to provide high quality water for bathing, cooking, drinking and laundry.

Residential Iron Curtain - Equipment Information

• An Iron Curtain will produce effervescent water (containing air). It looks cloudy or milky and will leave the water within minutes. It is not harmful, it is just air.
• For quality-filtered water, this system requires contact time. This is so impurities can be thoroughly filtered from the water. You can expect 5 GPM flow from the residential unit.
• Applications with high iron and or iron bacteria will require a chemical feed system to maintain clean aeration and filter tanks.
• Minimum space requirements for installation: 32" D x 15" W x 70" H.
• Drain requirements: the drain must be able to handle 5 GPM.
